Our Journey & Vision
Marist Regional College was established in 1972, following the amalgamation of two separate institutions: Stella Maris Regional Girls College, which was led by the Sisters of Mercy, and Marist College, run by the Marist Fathers. This partnership brought together two distinct traditions to create the co-educational college that exists today.
Today, Marist Regional College is a co-educational, senior secondary college catering for over 900 students from Year 7 through to Year 12. At the heart of our College are the values of hospitality, respect, justice, compassion, and responsibility. These guide our relationships, our learning, and the way we serve one another. We are committed to educating the whole person, so that our students leave not only with knowledge but also with the confidence, integrity, and compassion to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.
Our Mission
Inspired by the Marist and Mercy charisms, we invite all to a faith relationship through formation, and an excellence in holistic education.
Our Vision
Marist Regional College embraces a culture united by faith, a pursuit of personal excellence, strength in a “family spirit”, and a community enriched by diversity.
Our Values
Hospitality
All members strive to be a community, open and generous towards each other.
Respect
To respect each person’s dignity and uniqueness, recognising that each person is created by God.
Justice
To be open and honest in our dealings with one another, reflecting our motto; ‘Love the Truth’.
Compassion
To commit to supporting each other sensitively in times of need.
Responsibility
To accept an obligation to work collaboratively to maintain a vibrant learning community, which is inclusive, encourages excellence and is safe and enjoyable.
The College Crest
With the amalgamation of the two Colleges came the creation of a new crest. From Stella Maris Regional Girls’ College came the star, a symbol of Mary, the patroness. From Marist College came the monogram A.M. which stands for Ave Maria (Hail Mary). The monogram is also a symbol for Mary, from which the name Marist is derived.
“Diligite Veritatem”, or as we translate it, “Love the Truth” is the College motto. Students strive to love the truth and to enjoy the freedom that the truth gives us.
The crest of our College reminds us to seek excellence in all things, to live in love and to uphold the truth, following Mary’s example of faith and service.
