Catholic Identity & Mission

The Gospel is the cornerstone of Marist Regional College’s identity, expressed in the lived charisms of the founding religious congregations, The Society of Mary (Marist Fathers) and the Sisters of Mercy.  We aim to live the Christian life informed by the teachings of the Catholic Church and formed in trust and faith.

We do this by ensuring:

  • That we seek to love God and our neighbours, both near and far. This inspires us to be caring, compassionate and to reach out to those in need.
  • Education takes place in a lively and vivid community inspired by the spirit of love, teaching the head and the heart.
  • The education offered is centered on a Christian anthropology that is person-centered, promotes a true sense of dignity, self-esteem, integrity and the development of each human being to their potential. Each of us is a unique gift from God.
  • The community is anchored in the values of respect for all human life, love, community, mercy, justice, and a commitment to work for an enlightened, common future for all.
  • The highest quality, holistic education is offered which recognises the unique and God-given talents, abilities and pursuits of all individuals, so they can develop to their full, individual potential.

Our Catholic Identity is imbued in everything we do as a school, and it forms our identity. Our students have an opportunity to take part in a wide variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular programs such as Retreats, Community Service, Leadership Formation, Social Justice Groups, and so much more.

On regular occasions, the College gathers as one to mark significant events, feast days and celebrations in Services of the Word, or in the Eucharist. Daily prayer is observed in every classroom and the College Chapel is accessible throughout the day.

Marist Regional College responds to the call to the new evangelisation by inviting all members of the community to share its journey to be Good News to the world.

Our Catholic Identity is welcoming and inclusive of all, regardless of faith background or belief. Our goal is to ensure each, and every child understands that they are a wonderfully unique gift to the world.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the original and ongoing custodians of the land. We acknowledge the continuing connection to land, seas, air and waterways and commit ourselves to the ongoing journey of reconciliation. We honour Elders, past, present and emerging.
