The Marist Regional College community is committed to providing a dynamic and challenging educational program within the context of the Catholic tradition.

The development of a strategic plan shows a resolve to continually improve teaching and learning in our school community. We do so as a learning community that actively determines its own future, a future in which all members of the community value learning.

Our objectives are to:

Build a faith community that:
  • enhances religious education.
  • nurtures spirituality in the Marist and Mercy traditions.
  • enhances pastoral care of its members.
  • develops understanding of leadership.
Foster a learning community that:
  • is up to date in principle, method, content and resources.
  • enhances the professional learning of all staff.
  • develops a collaborative environment in which skills, experience and knowledge are shared.
  • promotes a love of lifelong learning.
  • provides enjoyable learning experiences for its members.
  • promotes the health and wellbeing of its members.
Nurture partnerships with our community that:
  • develop relationships with community groups to enhance student learning.
  • develop understanding of and engagement with the wider community.
  • strengthen parents', friends' and community support.
We will be a faith community in which:
  • each student has a coherent world view based on the gospels and what they teach about the human person and our relationship with God, with people and with the world.
  • each staff member can articulate how he or she shares in and furthers the religious mission of the school.
  • teachers know students well: their individual interests, backgrounds, motivation and learning styles.
  • the dignity and uniqueness of each person is respected.
  • staff and students are ethical thinkers with commitment to social responsibility and justice.
  • relationships among all members of the College community are based on respect, authenticity, acceptance, trust and hope.
  • MRC is a safe and happy learning /working environment.
  • goals for school improvement are articulated and school policies developed.
  • members of the community have a clear understanding of what servant leadership means and students are provided opportunities to experience leadership.
We will be a learning community in which:
  • there is a shared vision for student learning.
  • there is a commitment to best practice for student learning in a rapidly changing society.
  • resources are allocated with the primary focus on promoting a culture of learning.
  • there is shared learning among staff that addresses changing students' learning needs.
  • there is collegiality amongst staff in decision making.
  • each student is able to learn and achieve high standards.
  • each student accepts responsibility for his or her own learning and develops the skills to continue learning throughout life.
  • each student masters foundational skills including literacy and numeracy.
  • students engage in high level critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and teamwork.
  • there are well developed systems for evaluating and monitoring performance, self-evaluation and reflection.
We will nurture partnerships in which:
  • there is regular meaningful communication within the school community
  • students are equipped with knowledge of the world of work through career, enterprise and work programs
  • students have flexible learning opportunities and pathways
  • parents and caregivers participate in setting goals for the school
  • parents and caregivers are involved in and support their children's learning
  • the College is seen as an integral part of the local community
  • partnerships are developed with business and industry, education and training providers to enhance learning opportunities and better support our students in their transition from school to work
  • MRC works with the local community to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of continued education and training for students after they leave school
