Thank you for visiting our website.

Our aim is to provide students with an environment in which they feel welcome and secure and where they can develop to their full potential with both confidence and purpose. Central to our task as a Catholic school and enshrined in our mission statement is the call to provide an authentic learning community that educates the whole person academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically.

Susan Chen, Principal

Our hope is for a learning community that engages students in learning that is relevant for the 21st century and provides them with the skills to be critical and ethical thinkers capable of independent and lifelong learning. To achieve this, we are committed to excellence and providing learning experiences that will enable students to become people of integrity and active citizens of the future.

Marist is a welcoming school in which relationships with each other and our partnerships with the local community are flavoured by generosity. School is a “home”: a place of acceptance, mutual respect and love, a consistent place and a safe place. When we enrol a student our principal concerns are not whether the family can afford the fees, the testing of intelligence or sporting prowess. What we look for is a preparedness to support the ethos of the College, a willingness to show love, care and compassion for others. We seek engagement in our ethos not just endorsement.

In a practical way the College community has expressed its hopes through the development of a strategic plan. Our main objectives are to build the faith community, foster the learning community and to nurture partnerships within our community and in the wider community.

Part of our faith community objective is to celebrate the charisms, those unique gifts of our founding orders, to learn more about Father Jean Claude Colin and his brother priests of the Society of Mary and about Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy. Above all we live in the confident hope that our young people can and will make a difference, that they will grow up to enrich society through the witness of their own lives.

It is no accident that one of the three major objectives of the strategic plan is to nurture partnerships with the community. We rely on and are given wonderful support by hundreds of volunteers each year – from Year 10 dinner helpers, to costume makers for the musical, to sports coaches and managers, to industry representatives who interview our Year 10's and so on. Great assistance is given in the work experience and work placement programs and we welcome that interaction.

A large proportion of our students represent the College as members of sporting teams. Our students continue to participate in cultural activities with the Musical or Arts Festival a highlight of the year. Students are able to play in bands, sing in vocal ensembles, develop their artistic flair through ceramics and photography clubs, and so on. All of these activities take place outside the classroom and are a testament to teachers' commitment to developing meaningful relationships with students.

The College is set on a hill with magnificent views of Bass Strait . It has high quality facilities and an ongoing building program to cater for our growing student population. Explore our website and discover our range of curricular and co-curricular programs. We also welcome you to visit the College and see our students at work.
