The Arts

Performing and Creative Arts

Marist offers a number of opportunities for students to participate in a wide variety of creative and cultural activities that sit outside of the classroom learning experience, especially in the music and performance arts areas.
The twin highlights of the Creative Arts co-curricular program, staged on alternate years, are the major musical production and the arts festival.

The musical is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a performing arts co-curricular activity that showcases their creative talents. It's also a great opportunity for students to develop teamwork and communication skills, and builds self-confidence and self-esteem.

The biennial musical enables students to be involved in all facets of production, including

  • acting, singing and dancing,
  • stage lighting and sound,
  • stage design, direction and production,
  • set design and construction,
  • backstage crew during production,
  • costume design and production

Our ambitious co-curricular music program provides many opportunities for students of all ages and abilities to progress their musical development.
Every year more than 200 students are involved in musical ensembles and groups. The College has senior and junior concert bands and a number of smaller ensembles. We also run a very popular College-based Battle of the Bands competition mid-year.
Many of our music performers take part in external competitions such as the Rock Challenge, Tulip Festival, regional Battle of the Bands and local eisteddfods. Our musicians provide the music for all College Masses and special occasions such as our Evening of Excellence night. The recording studio allows performers to record their own music, performances and audition CDs, produce sound tracks for use in other classes or productions and engage in courses like the Certificate IV Technical Production offered through the Cradle Coast Trade Training Centre.

Arts Festival

The arts festival is held every two years at the College.  The gallery below showcases student past performances across the festival.
